Anxiety counseling that helps you breathe again
Live your life without anxiety calling the shots.
Anxiety doesn't have to run your life
We understand what it's like when worry follows you everywhere — into your work, your relationships, and your sleep. Heartsease offers counseling for individuals of all ages, in person and online across the Rio Grande Valley.
When anxiety loosens its grip, you get back to the people, places, and things that matter most.
What anxiety counseling can do for you
Understand what's behind it
Anxiety rarely comes from nowhere. Counseling helps you identify the patterns, triggers, and beliefs that keep it going so you're not just managing symptoms, you're addressing the source.
Get back to what matters
Avoidance feels like relief until it starts shrinking your world. Counseling helps you move toward the people, places, and experiences that matter, even when anxiety tells you not to.
Trust yourself again
Anxiety has a way of making you doubt yourself over time. Counseling helps you rebuild that foundation so you can face hard moments with steadiness and confidence instead of dread.
Learn to interrupt the cycle
Anxiety thrives on repetition. You'll build practical skills to catch anxious thoughts early, slow the spiral, and respond differently — freeing you from the loops that have been running your day.
Common questions about anxiety counseling
-
If anxiety is affecting your sleep, your relationships, your work, or your ability to enjoy daily life, it's worth talking to someone. You don't need to be in crisis to seek support. Many people wait longer than they should because they feel their anxiety isn't "bad enough." If it's getting in the way, that's reason enough.

Your first session is mostly a conversation — your counselor will ask about what you're experiencing, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. From there, sessions are focused on understanding your anxiety and building practical tools to manage it. The pace is guided by you, and there's no pressure to share more than you're ready to.

Our counselors draw from several evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, which helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns. The specific approach depends on you — your history, your goals, and how your anxiety shows up in your life. Treatment at Heartsease is never one-size-fits-all.

Insurance coverage depends on your counselor. Dr. Salinas accepts BCBS, UHC, Ambetter, Molina, Driscoll, and Superior. If your counselor is out of network, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits — contact your insurance provider to ask about reimbursement for outpatient psychotherapy.
